Step-by-Step Migration Guide

  1. Export from CAI: Log into CharacterAI, open your character settings, and copy the "Advanced Definition" text or export the character JSON using a community extension.
  2. Paste into Converter: Drop the data into the input box above. Our engine will automatically detect the CharacterAI fields.
  3. Set the Face: Choose a high-quality PNG image for your character. If you don't have one, we'll provide a standard card template.
  4. Export Results: Click "Convert" and save your new .png file.
  5. Import to SillyTavern: Open SillyTavern, go to "Characters," and click the "Upload" button to load your card.

What data is preserved?

We ensure that the core elements of your character are perfectly mapped to the TavernAI V2 spec:

  • Greeting: Mapped to the first_mes field.
  • Definition: Intelligently split into persona and description.
  • User/Char Variables: We preserve {{user}} and {{char}} syntax so your character remains context-aware.
